Added value of Powerpoint animations when comparing data

August 27, 2021

Speaking of a surprising statistic: sugar and smoking are almost equally strong killers worldwide! Growing up in the nineties, I clearly remember that school and family taught me how bad smoking is. But I can't remember an equally avid campaign against sugar!

The world has obviously changed and to get that message across, it is important to let the data speak. Knowing a few animation tricks in Powerpoint can definitely help you emphasize change in your dataset. For many years, I rarely used animations but the workshops in presentation design at this year's CreativePro week definitely showed me their added value. Below you can see how clever growing and shrinking of bar charts enhances the feeling of change compared to a static chart.
